KLUBBA LODGE No. 9103

Klubba Lodge No. 9103 received its warrant on November 9, 1983 and was consecrated on June 9, 1984 by RW Bro. P A Taylor, District Grand Master. The Lodge meets at the Georgetown Club and the original intention was for its members to be drawn from the Club membership itself, with attendance of visiting brethren being strictly by invitation. The facilities of the club are being used for dining on the basis of members being responsible for the cost for themselves and their guests.

The founders and first officers were:

W. Bro. V H Gibson

Worshipful Master

W. Bro. C S Persaud

W. Bro. F C McLean

Senior Warden

W. Bro. K K Ho

W. Bro. D. Persaud

Junior Warden

W. Bro. R Persaud

W. Bro. L B Singh

W. Bro. D Sawh

W. Bro. D. R Jones

Bro. H. McG Reid

W. Bro E N M Isaacs

W. Bro. O A H Johnson

W. Bro. A A Peroune

W. Bro. B Chandra

The lodge first met in the top flat of the Georgetown Club main building and it is interesting to note that the chairs for the lodge, including those for the District Grand Master and the principal officers, were provided by the respective brethren at their own expense. Since 1995 the lodge has been meeting in the Campbell Room in air-conditioned comfort which can seat fifty persons for a lodge meeting.

The design, art-work and fabrication of the lodge banner, depicting a front view of the Georgetown Club premises, was the work of Mrs. Grace Annette McLean, wife of the first Senior Warden, W. Bro. F C McLean, and was a joint donation to the lodge by the McLeans. The solid brass hanging rod for the banner was donated by W. Bro. D R Jones, who also provided other items of the lodge furniture.

The first initiate of the lodge was Bro. D M Griffith who was installed its Master in 1989 and became the first initiate of Klubba to attain the chair of the lodge.

The Lodge meets eight times a year, on the first Tuesday of every month except January, May, July and August and has adopted the Logic Ritual which, strictly speaking, entails the Master undertaking all the work in the degree and installation ceremonies. However Klubba, after the first few years of conforming to this requirement of the Logic Ritual Committee, has been sharing the work for the most part among Past Masters to keep them involved.

Being at home in the Georgetown Club makes Klubba Lodge the most economical in the District in annul subscriptions. The name of the Lodge, Klubba, required some research. The word ‘club’ was thought to be quite inappropriate, but eventually the Scandinavian word ‘Klubba’ was agreed on which is defined as ‘a number of persons in the habit of meeting for the promotion of some common objective.’
