Yearly Convocation of District Grand Lodge of Guyana

Opening Remarks

 

Rt: Wor District Grand Master

 

Annual Report of the District Grand Lodge Charity Committee for the period ended December 31, 2010 is presented for the submission to the yearly Convocation of District Grand Lodge. The Committee’s projected revenue of $2,000,000.00 for the reviewed year was successfully realised from the events that were slated.

 

Events Held During 2010

 

1.      Curry Fiesta in May  (Sheriff St. Qik Serv)                           -           $ 602,040.00

2.      Horse Raising Meeting in October  (Rising Sun Turf Club)-           $ 1,839,800.00

 

The Following Donations were made to Ten (10) Charities totaling $1,000,000.00 dollars, each being the recipient of $100,000.00

 

1.      St John’s Bosco Orphanage

2.      Archer Home

3.      Red Cross Convalescence Home

4.      St. Ann’s Orphanage

5.      Y.M.C.A

6.      Uncle Eddie’s Home

7.      St Phillip’s Church

8.      St Andrew’s Kirk

9.      Good Samaritan Home

10.  Linden Centre For Disabled Children

 

Additionally $ 2,000,000.00 was made available to the other Three Sister Lodges to assist with repairs. Also $2,000.00 US was donated to Hurricane Relief Fund (Haiti) and $500,000.00 to the Board of Benevolence Fund.

 

The Accumulated Charity Fund as at December 31, 2010 stands at $10,965,703.00

 

The Committee intends to raise $2,500,000.00 in the current year and as such the following Events are slated:

 

1.      Curry Fiesta

2.      Horse Raise Meeting

3.      Event in Berbice

4.      Event in Demerara

 

Lodges are going to be notified as usual as it relates to soliciting their assistance at the aforementioned Events.

 

RT. Wor. District Grand Master the call is once again made to Freemasons for their support at these Events as it’s no easy task in having them accomplished.

 

Our Continuous and wholehearted appreciation is once again extended to the Brethren, Friends of Mason and Corporate Entities for their critical and unconditional support in partnering with us towards making the world a better and peaceful place.
